16-year-olds are allowed to drive an ATV in Cancun. The ATV must be shared with an adult. Since they are underage, it is mandatory to sign a liability waiver and pay for the vehicle insurance ($10 USD).
18-year-olds can drive their own ATV, and the vehicle insurance is optional.

However, in some cities in Mexico, you can drive an ATV on the streets, just like a car. In that case, a driver’s license is mandatory.

We recommend this tour for children ages 4 and up to join our Cancun ATV tours. They can’t drive the ATV, but they can ride with a responsible adult. It’s a great experience for little ones.
We also have safety equipment available in children’s sizes.

Is there a weight limit on ATV Riding Cancun?
No.
There is no weight limit to ride an ATV with Cancun ATV.
The only conditions are:
- Mobility issues: The rider must be able to move properly and get on and off without assistance (this also applies to injuries).
- Over 250 lbs.: It is not possible to share an ATV due to limited space. The passenger must book an individual ATV
Is it possible to get a Cancun ATV Rental instead of a tour?
Unfortunately, no.
Due to safety concerns, we can’t allow unguided ATV rentals.
If your question is about renting an ATV to drive in the city, it’s not possible. Cancun is a very large city, and it is not allowed there. However, you may be able to do that in Holbox and Isla Mujeres.
